About Us

History

The Reading Allergy Information Network was formed in August 2003 by Steve and Lisa Frechette and other Reading residents who are parents of children with life-threatening food allergies (LTFA). TRAIN also has members and partners who are not parents of allergic children but do recognize the value of a community-based approach in dealing with food allergies in children.

Membership and Contact Information

Membership is free and does not require any particular form of commitment although one of TRAIN's greatest strengths is the quality of its volunteer-driven activities. New members are welcome at any time. Joining is easy: just contact us by sending your name and email address to contact-us@readingallergy.org and you will be added to the TRAIN email list as soon as possible.

Meetings and Activities

Support group meetings provide a discussion forum for a variety of food allergy and asthma topics including: self-esteem, friendships, peer pressure, parent/child separation, lack of support from friends and family, symptoms, testing, diagnoses, treatments, alternative medicines, preparing for school, and more.

They also provide a forum for discussing various approaches in honoring the TRAIN Mission Statement and meeting its Goals.

Meeting schedule information is communicated via the Meetings page on this website. Meeting reminders may also be communicated via email but there is no guarantee that we will always do this in a timely manner. Please visit the Meetings page and mark the schedule in your calendar.
