FAAN Walk for Food Allergy — Moving Toward
a Cure Borderland State Park, Sharon, Massachusetts
Once again a contingent of Reading families participated in the FAAN Walk for Food Allergy. Like last year we a beautiful late summer New England day walking along the trails at Borderland State Park. Based on the FAAN Walk fundraising website, over $3,000 was raised by the Reading families.
The event was similar in size and participation to last year with over 750 registrants and over a thousand walkers. There were inflatable "moon-bounce" and mountain slide attractions for the kids to play on. Although a final tally is not yet available, at the time of the walk this particular event raised over $125,000 ($15,000 more than last year) which will be used for research on finding a cure for food allergies.
There were several food vendors on hand who cater to the allergy community including Cherrybrook Kitchen of Lawrence and Gak's Snacks of Windham, NH. Representatives from Twinject™ and EpiPen® were again on hand distributing training materials.
The weather and the event itself were excellent, but the best part of the day was being able to participate in this fundraising event with other Reading families. Although food allergies have made our lives more difficult at times, the friendships we have made through because of food allergies have enriched our lives, and this event was a great way to enjoy those friendships.
Please enjoy pictures from the walk which are displayed below.
